Updates on the Plans for the Runaway Bay Community Health Centre

The North-East Regional Health Authority (NERHA) notes the concerns raised in the public domain regarding the conditions of the Runaway Bay Community Health Centre and wishes to inform the public about the following updates.

The Plans for a New Community Health Centre: Under the Primary Health Care Reform Programme, the new Runaway Bay Community Health Centre will provide maternal care services (family planning, antenatal, intra-natal and postnatal care), health promotion and education, community outreach through community health aides, home visiting (curative and preventative visits), Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) screening, chronic NCDs management, Communicable Disease management and basic laboratory services among other services. As it relates to the progress in the development of the Health Centre, the Design Consultants have prepared the designs and are currently preparing the Bills of Quantities. The next step in the process will be obtaining the relevant building approvals.

Renovation of the current building: The St. Ann Health Department acknowledges the need for some infrastructure repairs to the building currently occupied by the Health Centre. These repairs, including repairs to the roof, were completed by the owner of the building in December 2023.

The North-East Regional Health Authority and the St. Ann Health Department reiterate their full commitment to the Strategic Goals of ensuring access to equitable, comprehensive and quality health and making reliable and modern infrastructure available for health service delivery within the North-East Region.

This commitment is unwavering, and we are dedicated to serving our community. The North-East Regional Health Authority and the St. Ann Health Department assure the public that we take our community's feedback and concerns seriously and are committed to providing the necessary resources for persons who access health care services at our facilities.
