HOSPITAL'S OVERVIEW
The Annotto Bay Public General Hospital is a 95 bed Type 'B' facility situated in the parish of Saint Mary. It is mid-way between the city of Kingston and the town of Port Antonio. It provides healthcare for a catchment population of approximately 120,000 people primarily of St. Mary, sections of Portland, St. Ann and St. Andrew. The staff compliment stands at 317 employees. Annotto Bay Hospital was founded by Dr. John Pringle in 1867 to take care of his farm labourers on his Agualta Vale and Gray's Inn property. In 1950 a newer hospital was opened. Since then there have been many changes to accommodate the ever growing population. Notably the Deaconess Hospital and Jamaica Awareness Association of California USA have assisted tremendously through material resources and Gynaecologists in Laparoscopic procedures. Today, the hospital is proud to be a leader in the provision of those services in Jamaica.

HOSPITAL'S OVERVIEW:
The first St. Ann's Bay Hospital was built on the site of the Collectorate of Tax Office on Harbour Street. In 1919, a team from England which included the late Mrs. I. Anderson-Cocks - a young Registered Nurse came to report and make recommendation on the conditions of that institution. Based on that report this hospital was built ten (10) years later in 1929 on twenty (20) acres of lands given by the late H.S. Hopkins.
The St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital (SABRH) is the Regional Hospital serving the parishes of Portland, St. Mary and St. Ann. It boasts modern buildings with state of the art equipment, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Operating Theatres.
Presently the SABRH is a three hundred and eight (308) bed accredited training facility for interns and the Regional Hospital for the North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), one of the four regional authorities in the island.
It is a Type B Hospital and is the referral hospital for the three (3) general hospitals and seventy (70) health centres located in Portland, St. Mary and St. Ann. In turn, cases that cannot be managed in this hospital are referred to a Type A or a Specialist hospital such as Cornwall Regional, Kingston Public Hospital, The University of the West Indies and Bustamante Hospital for Children.
St. Ann's Bay Hospital provides health care services to a population of approximately 360,000 persons.
